PENNSYLVANIA – Senator Bob Mensch has introduced Senate Bill 445, legislation that enables Pennsylvanians renewing their driver’s license or vehicle registrations to donate to the PA Breast Cancer Coalition’s Research Grants Initiative. The bill, which currently has 35 co-sponsors, will give individuals the option to contribute $5 to Pennsylvania researchers working to find a cure for breast cancer. Today, 37 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in Pennsylvania. The PA Breast Cancer Coalition’s Research Grants Initiative was created in 1997 to fund researchers working to find better treatments and cures for all women facing breast cancer. The program has awarded more than $4.5 million in grants to outstanding scientists across the state. With significant decreases in available funding, researchers need funding now more than ever.
