LANCASTER – A judge convicted a Lancaster woman of smothering her three-month-old son to death after she fell asleep while abusing cocaine following a single-day bench trial. 34-year-old Luz Saez was found guilty of a single count each of endangering the welfare of children and involuntary manslaughter. Saez accidentally smothered the child to death as she slept at her residence in the 500 block of South Lime Street in August 2024. In an interview with police, Saez said she had used cocaine to stay awake for two days straight before accidentally falling asleep with the child in her arms. The judge is scheduled to sentence Saez at a later date.
