LANCASTER – The Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office issued a warning to the public about a recent scam call scheme. The scam involves a caller posing as an attorney demanding payments from individuals for alleged old debts. Specifically, the debt is supposedly owed to Lancaster Regional Hospital, which is no longer in operation, and callers are told they will be sued for not paying the supposed debt. The scammers attempt to make the calls more believable by using a Lancaster-area phone number, and may even go so far as to contact family members of victims as well. If you receive one of these calls, the attorney’s office urges you to not give the scammers any of your personal or payment information.
