LANCASTER COUNTY – A Lancaster County man charged with pointing a gun at a man will have his case proceed to county court. 22-year-old Matthew Achenbach of Mount Joy waived his preliminary hearing before a judge on aggravated assault, firearms not to be carried without a license, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person, and other charges. Achenbach is accused of brandishing the firearm and pointing it at the victim and threatening to kill him during an argument outside a Mount Joy bar shortly before midnight July 18. The victim told police that he and Achenbach had begun arguing inside. The argument then spilled outside into the parking lot, where the victim said Achenbach pulled the gun, loaded a round into the chamber, and pointed it at him. Police arrived to find Achenbach, who does not have a valid license to carry a firearm, holding the loaded weapon. Achenbach voluntarily admitted to pointing the gun. He is being held in Lancaster County Prison.
