LANCASTER COUNTY – One man died and several people were hospitalized after a Sunday morning fire at a Lancaster County home. Units responded around 2:30 a.m. to the 1700 block of Wilderness Road in Lancaster Township. Authorities say 46-year-old Simon Hen was upset regarding an impending separation from his wife. Hen went to the second floor of the home and began pouring gasoline in the hallway and in his daughter’s bedroom. His sons were awakened and witnessed him dousing the area and himself with gasoline. Despite efforts to take a lighter away from him, Hen ignited the gasoline. Both of Hen’s sons and a 19-year-old female guest sustained severe burns, but were able to flee the home. Hen’s wife and daughter escaped with minor burns. Police ruled the incident as a fire-related suicide and attempted homicide, and the incident remains under investigation.
