LANCASTER – With hot and humid weather in the forecast for this week, the Lancaster County Office of Aging will have cooling centers open now through this Friday at various locations. Cooling centers are places where older adults with no access to air conditioning can go to cool down during extreme periods of hot weather. They generally include air conditioned facilities such as libraries, community and senior centers, schools, churches, and malls. Spending a few hours in air conditioning, especially for those age 65 and older, can help reduce the risk of heat related illnesses.

Columbia Senior Center at Columbia United Methodist Church at 510 Walnut Street from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
Elizabethtown Area Senior Center at 70 S. Poplar Street from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
