LANCASTER – A judge sentenced a former Lancaster city man to 25 years to life in prison after he pleaded guilty to stabbing a man to death during a 2013 robbery. 55-year-old Shawn Jones pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, burglary, and robbery. Jones stabbed 59-year-old Allan Hess to death at a residence in the 200 block of West Walnut Street in Lancaster in January 2013. In a recorded 2025 police interview, Jones said he entered the home intending to steal a TV when he was unexpectedly confronted by Hess. During a struggle, Jones stabbed Hess. The case went unsolved for more than 12 years. DNA testing identified Jones in 2024. As part of his sentence Jones must also pay more than $4,000 in restitution. Jones’ sentence is to run consecutive to the state prison sentence he is currently serving for unrelated offenses.
