CARLISLE, PA – After a trial before the Honorable Christylee Peck, a Cumberland County jury convicted David Rosario of Aggravated Assault (Attempting to Cause Serious Bodily Injury), Aggravated Assault (Caused Bodily Injury) and Assault by Prisoner. The charges stem from an incident at the State Correctional Institution at Camp Hill. On July 9, 2021, Rosario, who was an inmate housed in the Restrictive Housing Unit (“RHU”), broke open his cell door and ambushed the victim, a corrections officer. Rosario repeatedly punched the victim 20-30 times in the head with a closed fist. The attack ended when other correctional officers arrived and forcibly pulled Rosario off the victim. The victim received medical treatment for his injuries at Holy Spirit Hospital. Sentencing is scheduled for September 6, 2022.
