LANCASTER – A Lancaster County man was convicted of second-degree murder, arson endangering other persons, and robbery of motor vehicle after a three-day trial in Lancaster County Court. 24-year-old Javen Jackson was found guilty of setting a fire to a New Holland apartment complex before attempting to steal a man’s vehicle in Terre Hill and ultimately causing that man’s death by accelerating and stopping the vehicle while the man hung from the side of the car. The arson took place on the late night and early morning of November 9 and 10, 2019 while the homicide and robbery occurred on November 11, 2019. The victim, 59-year-old Thomas Blackwell died three days later. Sentencing will occur at a later date.
