BOONE, NC – Samaritan’s Purse is on the scene in Louisiana and prepared to help victims of Tropical Storm Ida which knocked out power for over 1 million people, including the entire city of New Orleans. The biggest ongoing threat is flooding. Staff members and three Disaster Relief Units—tractor trailers filled with equipment and supplies—along with other vehicles have been deployed to hurricane-battered areas. As relief centers are established in partnership with local churches, volunteer teams will clear yards, patch roofs, and clean out flooded homes. The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team will go out alongside the teams to minister to the storm-ravaged communities. Financial donations are being accepted to help in the relief effort.
