LANCASTER – The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office has identified human skeletal remains found by two kayakers on September 29 on Weise Island in Conestoga Township. A forensic odontologist with the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office was consulted to assist with the identification. A positive identification confirmed the remains to be 61-year-old Stephen Salazar of Harrisburg. Salazar had been reported missing since December 23, 2021 after being seen on the Route 83 bridge in Harrisburg. The cause of death was ruled as fresh water drowning and the manner of death was suicide.
