HARRISBURG – To ensure state officials are using accurate data to shape their response to COVID-19, the PA House today approved House Resolution 1087 by Rep. Kate Klunk of Hanover to direct the Legislative Budget and Finance Commission (LBFC) to review data collected by the Department of Health. Unfortunately throughout the pandemic, there have been numerous occasions where there have been discrepancies in the information that has been published by the Department of Health. This includes thousands of COVID-19 positive cases being removed from the daily totals, days where there were significant statistical anomalies in the data and the comingling of data. The bicameral, bipartisan LBFC was selected to oversee the review because it is comprised of an equal number of Republicans and Democrats from the House and Senate. With House approval of the House Resolution 1087 today, the LBFC is directed to begin the process to conduct the review.
