EPHRATA – Mennonite Disaster Service dedicated a Homes of Hope facility in Ephrata, Lancaster County. More than 2,000 hours of volunteer help from MDS had enabled Homes of Hope to open the building to help families with children who are experiencing homelessness. The building was all but destroyed by a large fire two years ago. Volunteers began their work in August 2020 when they demolished the unsalvageable parts of the facility. By December, they were rebuilding the structure. Representatives from Homes of Hope, MDS volunteers, and members from churches that support Homes of Hope were on site for the dedication. The Homes of Hope ministry helps families with children who are experiencing homelessness by bringing them into a home setting for a four to six-month period for nurture, budget-coaching, and intentional training support.
