LANCASTER – The Lancaster Home Rule Study Commission has released a full draft of the Home Rule Charter that it has been working on for several months. On May 2023, Lancaster City voters decided to form a Home Rule Study Commission to determine if a home rule charter would better serve the city. On January 27 of this year, the Home Rule Study Commission voted to move forward with drafting a home rule charter for Lancaster. On August 1, the Commission made final decisions on the last three charter articles. A full draft is now available for public review and feedback. A public meeting is scheduled for tonight at 7 p.m. at City Hall at Polite Council Chambers to provide testimony and feedback. Other meetings have been scheduled.
