ANNAPOLIS, MD (AP) – Gov. Larry Hogan is urging Maryland’s counties to rigorously enforce his executive order aimed at controlling the spread of the coronavirus in bars and restaurants. Hogan’s letter to county officials says an increasing number of infections have been traced to non-compliance with public health requirements in bars and restaurants. State officials are concerned about a surge in infections among young people in Maryland. The governor wants local officials to go after establishments that are not following the rules so that Maryland won’t be “forced to take the same action” as other states that recently closed bars altogether.
