LANCASTER – A dedication of the “Sen. Noah W. Wenger Memorial Highway” in honor of the late lawmaker’s distinguished service in the PA General Assembly and his long-time commitment to the people of Lancaster County took place on Sunday. Act 63 of 2024 designated the portion of Route 222 from the interchange with Route 30 in Manheim Township, Lancaster County, to the interchange with the PA Turnpike in East Cocalico Township as such. Wenger served in the General Assembly for 30 years, including 24 years in the state Senate. During his tenure there, he was elected to the Senate Republican Leadership Team as Caucus Chairman and later as Appropriations Committee Chairman and played a leading role in creating the state’s highly successful farmland preservation program Wenger retired from the PA Senate in 2006. He passed away on February 28, 2024 at the age of 89.
