HARRISBURG – Gov. Tom Wolf signed House Bill 253 into law which appropriates $225 million in federal American Rescue Plan Act funding to support the health care workforce in PA. It also creates the Opioid Abuse Child Impact Task Force to focus on improving the safety and well-being of substance-exposed infants and provide funds for the PA Student Loan Relief for Nurses Program. Under the measure, Lancaster General Hospital would receive over $3.7 million; UPMC Pinnacle Lititz would receive over $421,000, and Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital would receive over $401,000. The amounts are determined based on the number of licensed beds in each facility.
