HARRISBURG – About $3 million of federal CARES Act funding will be dedicated for Preschool Early Intervention Programs serving children 3-to-5-years-old to purchase personal protective equipment and other pandemic-related supplies. The funds will help to keep students and staff safe and meet the challenges of COVID-19. Pennsylvania’s Early Intervention Program provides support and services to families with children with developmental delays and disabilities. About 13,700 children are enrolled. Preschool Early Intervention Programs offering classroom services to eligible children may request the funds to provide personal protective equipment, sanitizing and disinfecting supplies, and additional staff to support COVID-19 mitigation and training on health and safety practices. The programs will receive communication from the PA Department of Education with eGrant application instructions.
