BEL AIR, MD (AP) – A jury convicted a fugitive from El Salvador in the Auguat 2023 slaying of a Maryland woman who was attacked while exercising on the MA and PA Trail in Harford County. Prosecutors say 24-year-old Victor Martinez-Hernandez was carrying out a planned attack when he killed Rachel Morin. Their case hinged on DNA evidence connecting Martinez-Hernandez to the crime. A jury found him guilty of first-degree murder among other offenses. Martinez-Hernandez was accused of entering the United States illegally after allegedly killing another woman in his home country. Authorities also linked him to a 2023 home invasion in Los Angeles.
