EPHRATA – Firefighters responded yesterday around 7:30 a.m. to the Family Dollar at 130 N. Reading Road in Ephrata, Lancaster County. Units arrived at the scene and found a haze in the store with an odor and several burn marks in the ceiling. Crews found several burned areas in the ceiling running the length of the store. The source was traced back to a shorted out electrical supply to an HVAC unit. Crews found melted conduit and wires above the ceiling and in a 2nd floor room. Nothing else ignited as the fire could have been much worse. No injuries were reported.
