WEST HEMPFIELD TWP. – A fatal weekend crash in Lancaster County is under investigation. It happened Saturday around 6:14 p.m. on Route 30 near the Malleable Road overpass. Officers arrived on scene and found two vehicles were involved in a head-on crash with multiple occupants injured. A preliminary investigation showed a silver Chrysler 200 was traveling east on Route 30 when it crossed the median and struck a Kia Spectra head-on. A passenger in one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene. Two occupants were flown to Hershey Medical Center and four others were transported to local hospitals. Identities of the occupants are being withheld until family notification. Route 30 was closed for the investigation and reopened around 11 p.m. Any witnesses to the crash are asked to contact West Hempfield Township Police at 717-285-5191.
