DAUPHIN COUNTY – Dauphin County authorities are investigating a fatal crash. Yesterday at 6:16 a.m., police responded to a report of a box truck that had struck the Fiddlers Elbow bridge abutment on Route 322 westbound. Upon arrival, officers and multiple first responding agencies attended to the driver, the vehicle’s sole occupant. Despite life-saving measures, the driver died from his injuries. The driver, a 27-year-old male from New Jersey, was found to have veered off the road, striking a message board on the shoulder. The vehicle continued westbound on the shoulder, struck a portion of the concrete barrier, drove onto the embankment, and struck the bridge abutment head-on, causing the truck to roll onto its side back onto the roadway. Highway engineers inspected the bridge to ensure structural integrity after the crash, Derry Township Police are seeking assistance from the public and asks anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact Sgt.
