DAUPHIN COUNTY – Three people died and multiple passengers were injured after an accident between a charter bus and passenger vehicle along Interstate 81 South in Dauphin County. State Police responded Sunday night at 11:49 p.m. near mile marker 74 in Lower Paxton Township. The bus, carrying 45-50 passengers, was in the right lane negotiating a right curve. A Honda CRV was stopped in southbound traffic within the right lane. The bus exited the road, struck an embankment, hit the rear of the CRV, and flipped on its side. Heavy rain was reported at the time of the crash. Three passengers died at the scene. Two people in the CRV were taken to Hershey Medical Center, which received 28 people from the crash. As of this morning, two people were in-patients, 16 were being treated in the emergency department, and 10 were discharged. Several other injured were taken to Osteopathic Hospital. The American Red Cross provided assistance for the passengers at the Chambers Hill Fire Company in Harrisburg. State Police are investigating what caused the crash.
