HARRISBURG – Families from Harrisburg, Philadelphia, and other areas gathered at the state Capitol steps to advocate for an education stimulus bill under consideration. Senate Bill 1230 grants low-income families of school-age children a $1,000-per-student education scholarship account to spend on school supplies, including computers, tutoring, curriculum, and other education-related services. It’s designed to help students recover lost learning time due to school closures and help families afford the unexpected educational expenses associated with pandemic-era schooling. Up to 500,000 PA students could benefit from the program.
