Dove Award winning songwriter Mitch McVicker will perform a concert in Central Pennsylvania to benefit the work of Hope Served. Hope Served is a Manheim based charity focused on providing job training, paid employment, and meaningful relationships for individuals with disabilities. The concert will be held Saturday, June 28 at 6:30pm at Harrisburg Brethren In Christ Church, 2217 Derry Street, Harrisburg, PA 17104.
Mitch McVicker’s vocational musical journey began by working with the late, great Rich Mullins (known for the songs Awesome God, Hold Me Jesus, and Sing Your Praise To The Lord). They performed concerts and wrote songs together. The two were roommates, serving in ministry together among Navajo school children.
Shortly after a car wreck killed Mullins and badly injured McVicker, a song the two penned together, “My Deliverer,” was given the GMA Dove Award for song of the year…all while Mitch was going through a lengthy and difficult process of recovering from a coma-causing brain injury, collapsed lungs, broken bones, and nerve damage. After his recovery, Mitch continued his musical career, influenced by Rich Mullins in music yet with his own distinct voice and style.
McVicker’s solo career has spanned nearly 2500 concerts in 49 states and 13 countries. Along with recording 13 full-length albums, he has made 2 EPs, released 9 official music videos and 2 live concert DVDs.
Join us for an evening of celebration to support Hope Served’s dream of a world where people of all abilities find hope, meaning, and genuine belonging with one another. In recent years Hope Served has launched Hope Served Coffee (specialty coffee roasted in Lancaster County), Hope Served Greeting Cards (handcrafted cards), and Hope Served Café (a coffeeshop/breakfast bar on the campus of Pleasant View Retirement Community in Manheim). Plans are underway to renovate the former Manheim Mennonite Church into a workforce development hub featuring a small business incubator, culinary teaching kitchen, and restaurant/catering business.
Tickets are $10 in advance ($12 at the door) and can be obtained online at https://hopeserved.org/event/mitch/. A freewill offering will be taken to support the work of Hope Served.
