HARRISBURG – The PA Senate has approved a bill to permit essential family caregiver nursing home visits during health emergencies. Senate Bill 190 would allow a family member or another designated person to visit and care for a long-term care facility resident during a disaster emergency. Bill sponsor, Sen. Bob Mensch of Berks, Bucks, and Montgomery Counties said that the long-term care facility will be able to maintain control over the process. The bill, which now goes to the state House, covers long-term nursing facilities, hospices, assisted living residences, personal care homes, and intermediate care facilities for persons with an intellectual disability.
