EPHRATA – Investigators say an August 8 apartment fire in Ephrata, Lancaster County, was caused by a teen playing with a lighter. The two alarm blaze occurred on the 100 block of E. Locust Street in the borough. The fire started in the attic of the three-unit apartment building. The teen was fueling a lit candle with trash. When the teen’s fingers were burned, the fire got away from him. The PA State Police Fire Marshal indicated that the cause of the blaze was accidental and not deliberately set or a criminal act. Seven adults and six children were displaced from the fire.
