HARRISBURG – Gov. Tom Wolf has signed legislation into law that expands employment protections of members of the National Guard. Act 31 of 2021, formerly House Bill 196, provides additional support to PA military families by expanding employment protections for out of state service. The Chairman of the state Senate Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee, Fayette County Sen. Pat Stefano supported the measure. Prior to the new law, members who were activated could technically be terminated from their place of employment just for assisting residents in need located in other states. The measure passed the state House and Senate unanimously.
