EDGEWOOD, MD – Maryland State Police are conducting a death investigation in Harford County. Around 8 a.m, last Friday, authorities were in a pursuit involving a homicide suspect on I-95 in Baltimore County. The pursuit traveled on Maryland Route 152 into Harford County and ended near the gate at Aberdeen Proving Ground. When troopers arrived, the pursuit had ended. EMS were on scene and pronounced the driver, 41-year-old Charles Smellie, Jr. of Forestville, deceased. An investigation indicated the driver suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and no shots were fired by law enforcement. Information gleaned during the on-scene investigation indicated the deceased was a suspect involved in a homicide investigation in Prince George’s County.
