HARRISBURG – Sen. Bob Mensch of Berks, Bucks, & Montgomery Counties is sponsoring legislation that would increase penalties for repeat DUI offenders in PA. Senate Bill 773 is called Deana’s Law in honor of Deana Eckman, who was killed in February 2019 by a drunk driver with five prior DUI’s. The bill would increase grading for certain repeat DUI offenders, ensure that consecutive sentences are imposed to certain repeat DUI offenders, and require substance monitoring program evaluations for repeat DUI offenders as a condition of probation, parole, or bail. The bill is before the state Senate Transportation Committee.
