LANCASTER – A Lancaster County funeral director whose license was suspended amid allegations of mishandling bodies and lying on death certificates is now facing criminal charges. 49-year-old Andrew Scheid was charged Thursday with four felony counts of tampering with public records and four misdemeanor counts of abuse of a corpse. The state Attorney General’s office also announced it has filed a civil lawsuit aimed at permanently closing Scheid’s funeral homes and obtaining restitution for customers. Scheid operated funeral homes in Lancaster and in Manor Township.
