HARRISBURG – Area Congressman Dan Meuser will not run for governor of PA, despite having support from President Trump. Meuser announced his decision to run again for his 9th Congressional District seat rather than seek the nomination to challenge Democrat Gov. Josh Shapiro in 2026. Trump singled out Meuser during a rally at a U.S. Steel plant in late May, telling him he would support his efforts if he ran for governor. Meuser thanked President Trump for his encouragement and support. Meuser added he’s confident that Republicans will have an outstanding gubernatorial candidate, will defeat Gov. Josh Shapiro, and make PA a leader among states. Two-term Republican state Treasurer Stacy Garrity has said she’s considering running for governor.
