LANCASTER COUNTY – A Lancaster man has been charged in connection with a fatal crash along Route 30 east on June 4, 2023. 20-year-old Brandon Gentile faces homicide by vehicle, firearms carried without a license, reckless driving, and other charges. Reports indicated that two vehicles and a motorcycle were involved, and the motorcycle caught on fire after the impact. EMS tried to save the motorcycle rider, but the rider died. Witnesses reported that the motorcycle and white Subaru were racing moments before the crash. Detectives interviewed Gentile, who denied involvement in a street race, but said he was casually driving, tried to stay out of the way of the motorcycle, and only sped up to 80 mph before the crash. PennDOT cameras at exits along Route 30E showed Gentile’s vehicle driving at high rates of speed and passing vehicles in an unsafe manner. It was determined this was consistent with two individuals engaged in an illegal street race. Gentile’s vehicle was traveling more than 125 mph in the posted 55 mph zone. A THC vape pen was found in the center cup holder, and Gentile is not authorized by law to possess this item. Police also found a loaded 9mm handgun with no serial number and six bags with suspected drug residue. The state inspection and state emissions of the Gentile’s vehicle were both expired. A criminal complaint was filed. Gentile was arrested and released after posting $150,000 bail.
