LANCASTER COUNTY – A Lancaster County EMT is facing charges of visually and audibly recording interactions with patients without their knowledge. On December 19 of last year, Northern Lancaster County Regional Police began an investigation of a wiretap violation when notified by police officials in Elizabethtown, who initially received the complaint. 23-year-old Nathan Appel of Manheim has been charged with intersection, disclosure, or use of wire electronic, or oral communications. Appel was an EMT with Northwest EMS and made the recordings while on duty, which in addition to a violation of the wiretap laws, was in contradiction with Northwest EMS policy.
