HARRISBURG – A bill that would ensure funding for the demolition of blighted properties was approved by the PA House by a bipartisan vote. Bill sponsor, Sen. David Argall of Berks & Schuylkill Counties said his measure gives counties dedicated funding for the demolition of blighted, decaying, buildings. Argall sponsored Act 152 of 2016, which created ten years of demolition funding. His Senate Bill 439 removes the time limit. Since Act 152 was signed into law, 24 counties have adopted the demolition program, raising millions per year to tear down blighted and vacant buildings across the state. The bill now goes to the governor for his signature.
