LANCASTER COUNTY – Police in Lancaster County are asking for help in identifying a struck bicyclist. Yesterday around 4:45 p.m., police responded to a crash on Rothsville Road near Shirley Lane at the rail-to-trail crossing. A vehicle, operated by an adult male, was southbound on Rothsville Road when a bicyclist, traveling east on the rail trail, entered the road into the path of the car. The vehicle driver was hospitalized with minor injuries. The bicyclist sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Lancaster General Hospital. At this time, the identity of the bicyclist remains unknown. The bicyclist is a white male, 18-35 years old, with a thin build, short beard and mustache, and straight brown/blond hair. He was wearing shorts and red sneakers at the time of the accident. He was carrying a red backpack with tools and various items, none of which provided evidence of his identity. The male has a distinctive tattoo on his right arm and shoulder (pictured below). The bicycle (pictured below) is described as a “homemade” 10-speed bike, silver in color, equipped with two water bottle holders, a front headlamp, and two bike locks, one orange and one yellow, wrapped around the handlebars.
