LANCASTER – More school districts will be back in operation this week. Although school may look different this year, student safety remains a top priority. Drivers are likely to encounter school bus stops, school buses, and students as they walk to and from school and as they are dropped-off and picked-up. Police urge drivers to be cautious and alert when approaching bus stops, school buses, walking students, and school zones. Because school zones become hubs for vehicular and pedestrian traffic, many police departments will have an increased visible presence in and around school zones, especially during arrival and dismissal times. Drivers are required to slow down to the posted speed limit of 15 mph in school zones.
