HARRISBURG – Legislation to ban “nudification” apps from being developed, operated, or made available in PA, including through online app marketplaces, passed the PA Senate. Through AI, individuals can take an image of another person and manipulate it to generate a fake nude or sexually explicit photo of that person. Bill sponsor, Sen. Tracy Pennycuick says these applications serve no legitimate purpose and should not be available in PA. For children and young people, the consequences can be devastating. In a matter of seconds, an image can be manipulated, distributed to countless people, and inflict emotional and reputational harm that can last a lifetime. Senate Bill 1368 now goes to the PA House.
