HARRISBURG – Lancaster County Sen. Ryan Aument introduced a bill that would clean up PA’s voter registration records. Senate Bill 1018 will incorporate into statute recommendations made by a 2019 state Auditor General’s report of the Statewide Uniform Registry of Electors or SURE, a program the Department of State uses to maintain a complete list of all registered voters in the state. The report detailed 50 recommendations to improve the security of PA’s voter registration system and accuracy of voter registration records. The bill prohibits the Department of State, PennDOT, and counties from withholding information necessary to conduct an audit, and requires an audit every four years. The bill has been referred to the Senate State Government Committee.
