EAST COCALICO TOWNSHIP – A Lancaster County man is facing charges after firing a gun at a police officer. 47-year-old Matthew Stoyer of Denver was charged with burglary, criminal trespass, and recklessly endangering another person after a Sunday morning incident in the first block of North Reamstown Road. Around 5:45 a.m., police received a call from Stoyer’s family saying he left his home on Kramer Mill Road in East Cocalico Township. It was reported that Stoyer was probably under the influence of narcotics and was in an agitated state. It’s alleged that at 6:45 a.m., Stoyer fired a rifle round from the second floor of a residence on Reamstown Road in the vicinity of an East Cocalico Township Police car. Officers took Stoyer into custody without incident. It was later discovered that Stoyer broke into the residence where no one was home at the time.
