CUMBERLAND COUNTY – A vehicle stop led to a police pursuit in Cumberland County. On Friday, July 31 around 1:17 a.m., officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of North Walnut Street and Brandy Lane in Mechanicsburg. The pursuit ended after the vehicle crashed into a culvert to the rear of residences on Golden Court in Upper Allen Township. After crashing, the driver and front seat passenger fled on foot. Officers tracked down the driver and took a 14 year old juvenile male from the Mechanicsburg area into custody. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The passenger was able to flee and an investigation into identifying the passenger is ongoing. It was later determined the vehicle had been stolen from a residence located in the 100 block of Madison Drive which is why the driver fled. The vehicle had been left unlocked with the keys inside.
