PHILADELPHIA – PA Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding announced approval of $520,000 in funds to support 23 projects through the PA Farm Bill’s Urban Agriculture Infrastructure Grant Program. The projects funded include agricultural infrastructure such as greenhouses, raised beds, solar equipment, and tools to provide urban agricultural operations every opportunity to succeed Three area projects received funding. Lancaster County’s Discerning Eye Community Agriculture received over $23,000 for construction of two urban gardens in Lancaster, community supported agriculture, a commissary and kitchen equipment, and implementation of a Pay-What-You-Can, donation-based farmer’s market. Dauphin County’s Camp Curtin YMCA received $2,500 to install a solar panel and an addition of a water tank to collect rainwater to nourish a garden. York Fresh Food Farms received over $21,000 to improve urban farm production, a shed to store tools and supplies, and parking lot improvements.
