LANCASTER – Over 50 exhibitors will offer information on programs and services for older residents at Sen. Scott Martin’s Senior Expo held Thursday, August 27 in Lancaster. The free event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Farm and Home Center at 1383 Arcadia Road in Lancaster. State, county, and local agencies will be there to provide information on a wide variety of benefits for older Pennsylvanians, including health and wellness, assistive technologies, consumer protection, income tax assistance, veteran benefits, traffic safety, utility assistance, and more. Free health screenings, door prizes, and light refreshments will also be available. This year’s theme is “America the Beautiful” in recognition of the nation’s 250th anniversary. Weather permitting, a flag-raising ceremony will kick off the expo, and America250PA will be available to hand out free merchandise at the event. The Lancaster District Attorney’s Office will be on-site to help citizens properly dispose of unused prescription medications and a new feature at the expo will feature Tech Buddies – a non-profit organization that encourages teenage volunteers to help older Pennsylvanians with cell phones and other devices – will be available to provide technology tutoring to seniors. Older residents can RSVP to attend the expo at the Sen. Martin’s website or calling his local office at 717-397-1309. RSVPs are not required, but are appreciated.
