LANCASTER – Lancaster County firefighters responded to a Sunday night building fire at Kensington Club Apartments at 630 Wyncroft Lane in Lancaster Township. It happened around 11:11 p.m. when a 911 caller reported that a resident from apartment one had gone upstairs, knocked on the caller’s door, and said their unit was filled with smoke and smelled like burning wood. Crews arrived and reported smoke coming from the first floor of the three-story apartment building. Units located a fire inside an exterior wooden porch post. Authorities say a good Samaritan used two dry chemical fire extinguishers, significantly reducing the fire, which had burned through the post’s wooden covering. Firefighters ventilated smoke from the affected apartments. The fire was ruled accidental and caused an estimated $10,000 in damage to the building’s entry portico. No residents were displaced and no one was hurt.
