HARRISBURG – As the new school year approaches, a number of K-12 school districts around PA have declared that they will be enforcing mask mandates for all students. During a state Senate Education Committee hearing, Blair County Sen. Judy Ward said she’s heard from parents expressing concerns over all-day masking requirements. Ward said she believes parents and legal guardians have the fundamental right to make health and educational decisions that are best suited for their children. Ward is introducing legislation that would allow parents in PA to “opt-out” their children from having to comply with a school’s mask mandate. Sen. Doug Mastriano of Adams, Cumberland, & York Counties is co-sponsoring the measure.
