HARRISBURG – For a second day, the PA Department of Environmental Protection has issued a Code Orange Air Quality Action Day for our region. Smoke from wildfires, mainly in western and central Canada, will persist early in the day today before a cold front moves through in the afternoon bringing in cleaner air. Standardized color codes are used for forecasting and reporting daily air quality. Green signifies good air quality; Yellow means moderate air quality; Orange represents unhealthy pollution levels for sensitive groups, such as the elderly, those with heart and lung diseases and ailments, and children; and Red warns of unhealthy pollution levels for all.
