HARRISBURG – House Resolution 959 was approved unanimously by the PA House to commemorate the 75th anniversary of a popular toy.  In 1945, Slinky was first introduced to Christmas shoppers at the Gimbels department store in Philadelphia. James Industries built a factory to manufacture the toy in suburban Philadelphia and later moved its headquarters to Hollidaysburg, Blair County. Today, toy company Just Play owns the Slinky brand and is reopening the manufacturing plant in Hollidaysburg. Slinky, part of the National Toy Hall of Fame, has a storied position as one of the country’s favorite toys. It was even demonstrated on the Discovery Space Shuttle in 1985.
