HERSHEY – A Delaware County educator has been named 2025 PA Teacher of the Year. Leon Smith is a secondary teacher at Haverford High School. Interim Acting Education Secretary Angela Fitterer said Smith perfectly exemplifies what it means to be an excellent educator. As PA’s Teacher of the Year, Smith will travel the state, meet, and collaborate with other educators, and represent PA in next year’s National Teacher of the Year competition. Three other area teachers were part of the 12 finalists selected. They include Anne Fisher of Chester County’s Downingtown Middle School; Darla Romberger of Cumberland County’s Cumberland Valley High School; and Bo Shappell of Berks County’s Daniel Boone Area High School.
